Metalith H2O Applications
Metalith H2O Overview
In 2003, Infrastructure Defense Technologies introduced the Metalith™, a line of K-50 and K12-certified, high quality, high strength, physical security barriers. The Metalith barriers were designed to meet the anti-blast, anti-ram, and anti-terrorism demands for perimeter security solutions required by the military, government, and private owners and operators of many types of critical infrastructure assets.
The Metalith barriers were designed to be:
- Anti-ram vehicle barriers
- Ballistics protection barriers
- Blast mitigation barriers
|
- Follow-on attack prevention barriers
- Force protection barriers
- Protective delay barriers
|
We are now introducing a new member of the family, the Metalith H2O flood fighting and erosion control barriers.
The Metalith H2O provides excellent infrastructure protection from flooding and can be deployed quickly.
The Metalith H2O barriers act as a flood protection or flood fighting barrier when the rivers rise or the levees break keeping people and infrastructure assets safe.
Metalith H2O flood control panels can be used to create a new spine to strengthen a failing or weak levee or create a strong levee or earthen dam during new construction.
Metalith H2O flood protection barriers can be used to increase the height of an existing levee or earthen dam offering increased protection from potential floodwaters.

Beach and shoreline erosion are common problems to beach communities. Burying Metalith protective barriers into the pre-dune or dune areas can reduce erosion caused by natural forces such as high winds and storm surges.
Metalith H2O applications
The Metalith H2O barriers are designed to provide a wide variety of flood control and erosion control applications. These include:
- Bank / Slope stabilization
- Barrier walls
- Bulkheads
- Culvert pads
- Emergency flood containment
- Emergency flood deployment
- Erosion control
- Flood control
- Flood mitigation
- Land reclamation
- Levee armoring
- Levee elevating
|
- Mudslide or debris flows
- New levee construction
- Retaining walls
- Sand dune stabilization and armoring
- Seawalls / seawall repair
- Ship channel erosion
- Soil stabilization
- Spill containment
- Tank farm flood protection
- Temporary and permanent seawalls and bulkheads
- Water runoff redirection.

In testing conducted in 2007 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Metalith H2O barriers were found to be:
- The fastest flood fighting barriers to erect by a factor of 2 or 3 compared to all other tested barriers,
- The fastest barriers to disassemble,
- The flood barriers most capable of holding back the highest volume of flood water in its deployable form,
- The least affected by the impact of debris simulating test logs, and
- Impervious to hydrostatic loads, for the water volumes tested.
In addition, the Metalith flood protection barriers have been proven to be:
- The most cost effective barriers - per use,
- The longest lasting barriers - by decades,
- The barriers with the best and longest warranty in the industry,
- The fastest barriers in the industry to add an additional layer to,
- The most impervious to degradation from exposure to UV rays, high temperature, or other elements,
- One of the easiest to warehouse, requiring little floor space, since they nest,
- The most resistant to rot, rust, corrosion, material degradation, rodent nibbling, and decay which are problems with other flood fighting barrier solutions.
- The easiest to assemble by unskilled volunteers, and even larger children, small women, and active elderly volunteers can easily assemble the panels due to their light weight and simple pin assembly.
- The least likely flood fighting barrier to damage aquatic habitats, posing no risk to wildlife as the panels are made out of aluminum and will not degrade and are not edible.
- The "greenest" flood control or erosion control barrier made from 100% recyclable aluminum and stainless steel.
