Emergency management

The Metalith H2O flood fighting barriers were designed with Emergency Management agencies in mind. The Metalith H2O barriers were designed to be efficiently stored, easily shipped, erected without heavy equipment, except a Bobcat or front loader for filling, and installed by non-skilled help typically recruited during an emergency or a disaster.

Disasters can strike anytime and anywhere and they can take many forms:

  • Hurricanes
  • Earthquakes
  • Tornadoes
  • Floods
  • Fires
  • Hazardous spills
  • Other acts of nature, or
  • Acts of terrorism.

Whether the reacting agency is the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), a former independent agency that became part of the new Department of Homeland Security in March 2003, tasked with responding to, planning for, recovering from, and mitigating against disasters, state emergency management operations, or county or local emergency management, the Metalith H2O barriers are the answer when rising flood waters, storm surges pushed by hurricanes or tropical storms, destabilized soil, or weakening levees are the problem.

Emergency management uses for Metalith H2O barriers include:

  • Bank / Slope stabilization barriers
  • Barrier walls
  • Bulkheads
  • Culvert pads
  • Emergency facility protection
  • Emergency flood containment barriers
  • Emergency flood deployment
  • Erosion control barriers
  • Flood control barriers
  • Flood mitigation barriers
  • Hurricane beach erosion barriers,
  • Land reclamation barriers
  • Levee armoring
  • Levee elevating,
  • Mudslide and debris flow barriers
  • New levee construction
  • Portable flood protection instead of sandbags walls
  • Retaining walls
  • Sand dune stabilization and armoring
  • Seawall barrier
  • Seawall repair
  • Soil stabilization
  • Spill containment
  • Temporary and permanent seawalls and bulkheads,
  • Temporary water storage pools, and
  • Water runoff redirection.

Our standard Metalith™ barriers, in combination with our roof designs, can provide:

  • Emergency management administration offices,
  • Emergency response worker temporary housing,
  • Emergency structures (walls and roofs) for numerous applications,
  • Food or supplies distribution facilities and perimeter barriers,
  • Refugee camp shelters,
  • Refugee shelter walls,
  • Temporary hospitals / emergency medical centers / aid stations,
  • Temporary law enforcement housing or operations facilities,
  • Temporary or semi-permanent supply depot structures, and
  • Vehicle or equipment storage facilities.
