Jet Flow

A type of flow characterized by water moving in plunging, jet-like surges, produced where a turbulent current enters a body of standing water.

Jetting

A method of placing piles or sheeting by forcing water around and under to displace and lubricate the surrounding soil, allowing the pile or sheeting to sink to the desired position.

Jetty

A structure used at inlets to stabilize the position of a navigation channel, to shield vessels from wave forces, and to control the movement of sand along adjacent beaches to minimize the movement of sand into a channel.
